Blade Runner on Squidoo

I’m not sure I quite understand this whole Squidoo thing, but I found a cool collection of Blade Runner stuff, including the directors cut trailer:

Check out the rest of this collection here, some cool stuff including a Google Map of the Bradbury Building from the film, as well as the deleted Hospital Scene… now my question: Where the hell is our promised Special Edition Box Set??

*Update* – Did a little digging, and it seems I am partially out of the Blade Runner loop. BladeZone reported back in July that not only is there a brand new, limited run Directors Cut coming out in September / October, but the 25th anniversary of the film in 2007 will be commemorated with a super-deluxe edition, the one we’ve all been waiting for!

May 27th 2006 – THE NEWS WE ALL WAITED FOR!

Warner Home Video will issue a new remastered director’s cut of the classic SF movie Blade Runner in September now that it has cleared up rights issues, followed by a theatrical release of a version promised to be truly director Ridley Scott’s final cut, Variety reported. Warner’s rights to Blade Runner lapsed a year ago, but the studio has since negotiated a long-term license. The movie has a troubled history. When Scott ran over budget, completion bond guarantors took control of it and made substantial changes before its 1982 theatrical release, adding a voice-over and a happy ending. That version was replaced by the much better-received director’s cut in 1992, but Scott has long been unhappy with it, complaining that he was rushed and unable to give it proper attention. Scott started working on the final cut version in 2000, but that project was shelved by Warner soon after, apparently because the studio couldn’t come to terms with Jerry Perenchio over rights issues. The restored “director’s cut” will debut on home video in September and will remain on sale for only four months, after which time it will be placed on moratorium. Blade Runner: Final Cut will arrive in 2007 for a limited 25th-anniversary theatrical run, followed by a special-edition DVD with the three previous versions offered as alternate viewing. Besides the original theatrical version and director’s cut, the expanded international theatrical cut will be included. The set will also contain additional bonus materials.

‘Hybrid Mutant’ Found Dead in Maine

Residents are wondering if an animal found dead over the weekend may be the mysterious creature that has mauled dogs, frightened residents and been the subject of local legend for half a generation. The animal was found near power lines along Route 4 on Saturday, apparently struck by a car while chasing a cat.

On a related note…. beware of manbearpig, I’m totally cereal.

Incredible Microsoft TouchLight Tech

From Gizmodo:

Researchers over at Microsoft have developed TouchLight, a touch screen technology that combines off-the-shelf components to create a unique and interactive affair. Several different types of cameras are positioned behind a holographic projection material screen recording your movement. Approaching the screen, you then see a projection of yourself or whatever you have touching the screen. This opens up several different types of applications, not least of which is the normal touch screen activities.

This is really one of those stories where seeing is believing, so be sure check out the fruits of Redomnd’s research and start thinking about ways to abuse it like we do with a Xerox machine.
